Tulsi (Holy Basil) Care Guide for the UAE

Why Tulsi is loved

Holy Basil, or Tulsi, is a sacred plant in many homes and a fragrant herb for tea and cooking. It grows well in the UAE when given the right spot and a little attention.

Light

Tulsi needs plenty of sun. Place it where it gets several hours of direct morning light. In peak summer, give it some shade from the harshest afternoon sun.

Watering

Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water more often in warm weather and less in winter. Always use a pot with drainage holes.

Soil and feeding

A light, well-draining mix works best, such as Holland Torf Potting Soil. Feed lightly once a month during the growing season with an organic option like Bio Organic Fertilizer.

Pruning for a bushier plant

Pinch off the flower spikes as they appear. This encourages fresh, leafy growth and keeps the plant compact.
